Job Description
a. providing services and support to clients with mild to complex mental
health and substance abuse issues;
b. developing plans for clients with mental health and addiction needs
including the transition of clients back to school from hospitalization;
c. Providing support for intervention for issues such as self?harm or
treatment refusal.
d. The Mental Health and Addictions Nurse will also play a key role in
helping clients and/or parents’ access services such as family health
and/or addictions agencies.
e. Advise educators on potential side-effects of different classes of
medications
f. Provide medical consultation to educators regarding issues such as
medication management for individual clients, particularly those with
complex medical conditions concurrent with mental illness or addictions
g. Liaise with children’s mental health agencies and primary care
practitioners as required
h. Provide support and/or intervention in complex issues such as refusal to
attend treatment, self-harm, suicide, or violent behaviour
